Trend / Tartan & Plaid

Despite being a long-running trend and true wardrobe staple, I haven't covered Tartan and Plaid before! It's past time that I did, so here's my Stardoll coverage for 2019:

Featured Dolls:

wanderlust_ styles a fantastic and mustard-coloured Stardesign skirt as a standout piece in an otherwise monochrome and simple outfit

Leshana1991 makes the most out of limited pieces, drawing inspiration from her coat to make a green-and-pink look with lots of hidden text

Alison.Glow. relaxes in a gender-neutral, fashionable street style outfit featuring an oversized gingham blouse and a surprising number of subtle layers

Starplaza Picks:

Word from the wise - ignore the 'plaid' and 'print' tags in the plaza, they're useless, and don't show even half of the Tartan and Plaid options that are available!

Gem Tile Dress

We love sleeveless turtlenecks on stardoll, and given how easy they are to style up or down that's hardly surprising. In this case, I loved the subtle texturing of the dress, even if it is a little expensive.

Vintage Check Frill Shirt

This is a great take on the classic, red-and-blue plaid blouse. The cropped length and frill hem add a modern (and affordable) twist!

Madras Off Shoulder Dress

As always, an affordable trend is always a win in my book! This classic Starcoin piece is a Stardoll staple, and the perfect wardrobe edition with babydoll and shoulder cutouts being once again on trend.

My Stylings:

For the first loo, I wanted to go with my gut and push the trend in a way I hadn't seen, which was to mix prints. I did however use some inspiration from the featured dolls, by keep the colours relatively subdued.

For the second look, I wanted the print to be a lot subtler, and put it as leggings underneath holed jeans. I also went much bolder, using shade of neon pink which have been very popular lately.
